Land & Farming
One Acre Of Land
$1000
“Dignity is having a piece of land to pass on to your children.” That was how a father in the Agros village of El Milagro, El Salvador defined dignity. While rural families in Central America and Mexico depend on agricultural land for their survival, having your own land also means ownership, belonging, and a way out of poverty. Give a gift of land to provide food and a future.

Sitting on the floor of the community center in San Marcos, 40-year old Francisco recalls that since he was a young boy people told him that he would never be anything more than a day laborer living a life of poverty. “I’ve lived my whole life working with a machete, weeding and planting.” Being very young when he started his family, he needed help sowing the fields and maintaining the plantains. Determined to provide for his wife and three children, Francisco decided he would like to take the responsibility of sowing and owning his own crops, and for the last five years he’s been managing an acre of plantains he bought himself through Agros. Francisco and his family are now seeing their long-held dreams come true.
