To our eyes, a wash basin seems small and modest. To the families in Agros villages, it is a labor-saving device. It is used for washing, bathing, and cleaning. Connected to a water system, the family no longer walks hours every day to collect water. This gift will significantly increase health for families in Agros villages.

When villagers in El Salvador are asked about the difference water makes in their homes, many respond by talking about the joy their children feel when they jump into the water basins to bathe. The women then speak about how having their own water source saves them hours every day. One villager summed this up by saying, “…now I can spend more time at home close to my children instead of leaving them with older siblings while I wash clothes in the river. We are all happier about that.”
